Raipur: An important meeting is being held at Rajeev Bhwan today over the selection of candidates in Dantewada by-election. According to sources, the name of Devti Karma, Ex MLA from Dantewada has almost been finalized in this meeting. However, it has not yet been formally announced.
After the state election committee meeting, state in-charge PL Punia and state president Mohan Markam held a meeting with Chavindra Karma and Deepak Karma for the Dantewada by-election. Chavindra Karma and Deepak Karma have also given their consent regarding the name of Devti Karma.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, State In-charge PL Punia, PCC President Mohan Markam, Secretary-in-charge Chandan Yadav, TS Singh Dev, Ravindra Chaubey, Dhanendra Sahu, Satyanarayan Sharma, Mo Akbar , Shiv Dahria, Mahila Congress President Phoolodevi Netam, Youth Congress President Purna Chandra Padhi, NSUI President Akash Sharma were present in this meeting.
Coming out of the meeting, Chavindra Karma said that whichever party will give tickets, we agree that we will work in the by-elections with full dedication.
MLA Bhima Mandavi from Dantewada was killed in a naxalite attack after which the seat of Dantewada Assembly is vacant. Now since the by-election has been announced, model code of conduct has come into force in Dantewada and Narayanpur districts included in the assembly constituency for the by-elections.

Scrutiny of nomination papers - 5 September 2019, Thursday
Date of withdrawal - 7 September 2019, Saturday
Voting date - 23 September 2019, Monday
Date of counting - 27 September 2019, Friday
Date before which the election will be held 29/9/2019, Sunday
