Raipur: BJP candidate in Dantewada Assembly by-election will be Ojaswi Mandavi, said sources . The BJP State Election Committee met in the Kushabhau Thackeray campus Friday night. In the meeting that lasted about one and a half hours, the name of Ojasvi has been agreed upon. Former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh told the media that the Election Committee has agreed on one single name.It will be sent to the Central Parliamentary Board and the candidate will be announced on Saturday.

The election committee meeting was attended by National Vice President Dr. Raman Singh, State President Vikram Usendi, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Election Incharge Shivratan Sharma, Punnulal Mohale, Pawan Sai, Rampratap Singh, Pooja Vidharani, Subhau Kashyap and others.

The BJP had sent an observer to Dantewada, in which the name of Ojaswi Mandavi came forward. The State Election Committee has approved the observer's report. Bhima Mandavi,( MLA from Dantewada) husband of Ojaswi Mandavi, was killed in a Naxalite blast in Bastar two days before the Lok Sabha elections.
Ojasvi had expressed her intention to contest the election in front of party officials. The organization appreciated this sentiment and agreed to make her a candidate. Now, the formality of formally declaring Ojaswi as the candidate in the Central Parliamentary Board is  still pending.
