Bilaspur: The High Court has granted a stay on the petition filed against the issue of 27 per cent reservation for backward class reservation in Chhattisgarh, which has caused controversy.
The joint bench of Chief Justice PR Ramachandra Menon and Justice PP Sahu heard the petition filed on the issue.
The petition was filed by social activist Kunal Shukla and his colleagues who argued that during the verdict on Indira Sawhney case, it was declared that in any case, reservation cannot exceed fifty per cent.

On the High Court's decision, CM Bhupesh Baghel said that the honourable court has accepted 69 percent reservation already including reservation of SC and economically backward class. "OBC reservation has not been accepted, which we will fight on. We will present our case in the court", added CM Baghel.
