Balrampur: A shocking incident has come forward in Balrampur district where a man married a woman after rape then later allegedly killed her when she was pregnant. Her corpse was found by the police in a devastating state where the husband identified as Ashish Gupta had not only beaten his wife black and blue but also rode over her body several times with his bike.
The accused husband has been sent on judicial remand by the police. Balrampur ASP Prashant Katalam said that the bloodied corpse of a pregnant woman was found in the village Karacha Main Road on the event day, 14 October. The deceased was identified as Kirti Sonwani, a resident of village Karcha.
From the first day, the police suspected that her husband Ashish Gupta may have been involved in the incident, but the circumstances of the incident were made such that the matter could be considered of a road accident. Considering the seriousness of the incident, SP TR kosima closely examined the incident.
It was evident from the first inspection that the scene was not of a normal road accident but of a murder. But the police did not get a single eyewitness. There was also an atmosphere of anger among the people about the incident.
Upon confirmation of the murder in the post-mortem report, the police first started questioning the custody of the deceased's husband Bhedmi resident Ashish Gupta. Initially he continued to mislead the police but his prior activities were suspicious. In such a situation, the suspicion of the police deepened. The police team led by Chando police station in-charge Rupesh Kuntal Ekka has arrested the accused husband for murder and hiding evidence and sent him to judicial remand.
During the police interrogation, the accused husband Ashish Gupta, resident of Bhedmi, said that in the year 2018, the deceased Kirti Sonwani had registered a crime of incest against him, on which he was also in jail. Later, the alleged victim and the accused had married in the temple by mutual agreement and started living together.
Accused of sending him to jail and ask him to marry as a compromise, the accused was angry with the deceased. On the day of the incident, he took his the wife to a deserted place, on the pretext of taking the wife on a road trip. After hurting his wife in an unimaginable manner , he fled away leaving her to die there.
