Raipur : Chhattisgarh's GST enforcement wing took a major action on Thursday, by raiding the factories located in Urla, Siltara area. In the sudden inspection conducted by the wing, three iron-steel product manufacturers namely Shyam Steel Industries, Ishwar Ispat and Ishwar TMT were found guilty of evading GST worth Rs 6.75 crore.
The total amount of GST evasion is expected to be higher than what was found during the preliminary investigation. These firms deposited GST of Rs 4.75 crore with the authorities on the spot. These firms were buying raw scrap to make bars and evading GST.
It is noteworthy that the enforcement wing of GST in Chhattisgarh is actively monitoring and taking action on the complaints of tax evasion. The wing was monitoring these firms for GST evasion from scrap for a long time.
Advanced IT tools were used by the department, and action was taken on the basis of the information obtained through inspection of the e-way bills and the information collected from the field.
