Bastar : World renowned for their craftsmenship , Bastar craftsmen this Diwali have crafted Turtle lamp. Usually The Kondagov-Bastar craftsmen are famous for their bellmetal, iron art, bamboo craft and terracotta art.
Under the Vihaan Bazaar in district Kondagaon, the hidden and extinct art work of Bastar is exhibited, one such artwork which capturing people's attention is the turtle lamp which isvery attractive in appearance and absorbs less oil then the general earthen diyas. THe lamp is made of clay lamp and is a exact replica of a living turtle. The specialty of this lamp is that even after pouring the oil, it is not visible in the lamp.
Taking this initiative CEO Zilla Panchayat Nupur Rashi has initiated to arrange market for the traditional craftsmen of Bastar who can not only revive their work but also improve their standard of living by earning profit.
