^{The Defence Ministry issued a fresh statement on Friday on the closure of cantonment roads, reiterating most of what it had said in its previous orders. The statement left many in the Army wondering if their concerns had been ignored.}

^{In the carefully worded statement, the Ministry said it had come to a decision after consultations with all stakeholders, including the Army chief.}

^{In case of roads which the Local Military Authorities considered necessary to close, “due process as laid down under Cantonment Act, 2006 and the orders issued by the Ministry dated May 28, 2018 will be followed”, it said.}
