Nagapanchami is being celebrated across the conutry today on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month.

According to mythology serpent deity is worshiped on the date of Nag Panchami. This year, it is being celebrated today, on Tuesday, 2nd August, 2022. According to sanatani vedic scriptures, Janmajey, the son of Parikshit, had performed ‘Nag Yagya’ to take revenge the death of his father Parikshit by Takshak, the king of serpents. Janmejaya was out to kill their entire clan. In order to protect Nagas, sage Aastik Muni persuaded Janmejaya to stop his Yajna. The day, when Janmejaya agreed to stop his Yajna was Shravan Shukla Panchami. Naga king Takshak and his clans was saved today, as per the Hindu belief. People have been celebrating Naga Panchami since then.
The month of Shravan is considered auspicious and Lord Shiva who adorns the the serpent king Vasuki around his neck is the Lord of this month. That’s why people worship Nagadevta on the day of Nag Panchami.

It is believed that on the day of Nag Panchami, the Kaalsarp doshas and Rahu doshas present in the horoscope are removed by worshiping the snake deity. Apart from this, all the sins of life are also forgiven. Several auspicious yogas have been formed on Nag Panchami this year. Worshipping snake deity brings all kinds of happiness in life according to mythology.

According to Hindu calender this year Nag Panchami Puja Shubh Muhurt 2022 began
at 4.14 am today and will remain till 5.42 am tomorrow 03 August. According to astrological calculations, the auspicious time of worship of Nag Panchami will remain from 5.14 am to 8.24 am today.
