RAIPUR: Naxalism will be the biggest issue between the Congress and the BJP in the Dantewada assembly by-election of Chhattisgarh. The Congress has fielded Devati Karma, wife of Mahendra Karma, the Bastar Tiger killed in the Jhiram Valley Naxalite attack. At the same time, the name of Ojaswi Mandavi from BJP is final. The Dantewada by-election is being held after the Naxalite assassinated BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi.
Bhima's murder took place two days before Bastar polls in the Lok Sabha elections. There was a Congress government in the state and the police failed to protect the MLA. In such a situation, the BJP will make this as a biggest issue.
Ojaswi Mandavi is also raising her husband's martyrdom in her election campaign. At the same time, the issue of Naxalism will be included in the campaign of the central leaders of the BJP as well. According to the highly placed sources of BJP, a social media campaign is being started in Dantewada Assembly regarding Naxalism.
With this, the central government's schemes for development in Bastar in the last five years and the BJP government's plans in the last 15 years will also be raised. After the formation of the state, Congress and BJP MLAs have been elected one after another on the Dantewada assembly seat.
The BJP had sought votes for the party candidate to join the mainstream of development in the last election. Now in the Modi government led nation , BJP will ask for votes on the power and strength of the central government.
Along with this, BJP will also raise the comments of the Judicial Inquiry Commission in the Jhiram case. Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik has accused the Congress government of not being serious in the Jhiram case. In such a situation, BJP will try to rule the issue of Jhiram in its favor.
The party has also fielded local leaders on the campaigning front. Leaders of Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada have been given the responsibility. Along with this, MLA Shivratan Sharma and former minister Mahesh Gagra have been given the responsibility of conducting the election.
