Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to hike minimum support price of paddy for Kharif year 2019-20 to Rs 2500.

He also wrote that in case the hike is not possible then allow the Chhattisgarh government to procure paddy on Rs 2500 MSP under Decentralized Food-grain Procurement Scheme.

He also demanded of the PM to instruct concerned officials for  procurement of 32 metric ton rice by Food Corporation of India (FCI).

Citing that the state government was ready to commence procurement of paddy from state farmers for this Kharif season from November 15, Baghel in the letter urged the PM that in case he was unable to hike the MSP of paddy then the state must be  permitted to procure the paddy on the said price under Decentralized   Food-grain Procurement Scheme. Keeping in view the interest of farmers of the state the clause 1 in the MoU should be relaxed and the additional procurement should be allowed for the central pool, Baghel demanded in his letter to PM.
