Raipur: The Supreme Court has directed Chhattisgarh government to not record  phone calls of  suspended Director General  Mukesh Gupta.

Responding to the petition filed by Gupta, the Supreme Court in its order stated, “Let the phone tapping be stopped forthwith.”

Senior counsel appearing for the respondent (s) assured there would be no further phone tapping.

“Interim order shall continue to operate until further orders and the petitioner is not to be harassed unduly. He shall not be arrested also,” the apex court said.

Notably, Gupta who has been suspended by the state government on the charges of illegal phone tapping along with others had filed a petition with the SC that the state government was tapping his and his family members’ phone calls illegally.

“The court had instructed not to tap the phone calls as well as not to arrest Mukesh Gupta and we will follow the instructions” Advocate General Satish Chandra Verma confirmed.
