Raipur: With the special efforts of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Ambikapur Airport has been developed in 3-C VFR category to expand air services in the state. An application for license to operate air services from here was submitted to the Director General of Civil Aviation in December 2022. The much awaited license of Ambikapur Airport has been issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India today on 15 March 2024.
With the licensing of Ambikapur Airport, the state now has 03 licensed airports including Bilaspur, Jagdalpur under RCS scheme. After obtaining the license of 3-C VFR category, now the operation of air services through 72 seater aircraft can be started from Ambikapur Airport.
The state government is already making efforts to start air service operations from Ambikapur Airport to Raipur, Bilaspur, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi.
With the commencement of air service from the airport, tourism and commercial activities in the northern region of the state will get a boost and the development of the region will gain momentum.
