Raipur: Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale has issued necessary guidelines to all the District Electoral Officers and Superintendents of Police regarding the necessary action to be taken to maintain law and order during the Lok Sabha general election. In compliance with these guidelines, strict vigil is being kept on illegal transportation and collection of money and goods through various enforcement agencies in the state.
Under the Model Code of Conduct implemented in the state, intensive investigation proceedings are continuously going on by the surveillance teams. Since the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha general election in the state, illegal money and goods worth Rs 25 crore 8 lakh have been seized so far.
According to the information received from the Chief Electoral Officer's office, cash worth Rs 5 crore 28 lakh has been seized by the enforcement agencies during surveillance till March 28. During this period, 17311 liters of illegal liquor has been seized, which is worth Rs 41 lakh.
During the intensive investigation campaign, 784 kg of narcotics worth Rs 1 crore 48 lakh and 23 kg of precious jewellery worth Rs 94 lakh have also been seized. Apart from these, other items worth Rs 16 lakh 96 thousand have also been seized.
