Mahtari Vandan Sammelan to be organized on March 7 in all district headquarters, block headquarters and urban areas in the State
Raipur : In commemoration of International Women's Day 2024, the Mahtari Vandan Sammelan will be organized on March 7 at 11 am in all district headquarters, block headquarters, and urban areas of the state. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in this grand event online, addressing the public via video conferencing and engaging with beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will participate in the Mahtari Vandan Yojana at the event organized in Raipur. He will transfer funds for the first time through Direct Benefit Transfer into the accounts of eligible married women beneficiaries. He will also interact with beneficiaries. Additionally, this occasion will mark the commencement of Chhattisgarh's campaign to end child marriages
it is noteworthy that to fulfil Modi's Guarantee promised to the state, the state government has implemented the new Mahtari Vandan Yojana in the state from March 1, 2024. Under this scheme, married women aged 21 and above will be provided with monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1000 that is Rs.12,000 annually. The first-time assistance will be provided on March 7. This will benefit over 70 lakh women in the state.
The Women and Child Development Department has been designated as the nodal department for the implementation of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Director of the department, Smt. Tulika Prajapati, has issued detailed guidelines to all the collectors, district program officers and district women and child development officers for the successful organization of Mahtari Vandan Sammelan. In the instructions, for live telecast of the program in the state, it has been asked to link all the district headquarters, block headquarters and urban bodies from the state headquarters through video conferencing. Instructions have also been given to ensure participation of public representatives, representatives of urban bodies and representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions on this occasion.
Alongside cultural programs based on departmental activities, stalls will be set up for the sale of products produced by women's self-help groups during the conference. Additionally, information about departmental schemes will also be provided. Pledge to make Chhattisgarh free from child marriages will also be taken at the district level program.
