Raipur: 82 percent reservation has been implemented in Chhattisgarh. The state government has issued an ordinance. Recently, the cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel approved the proposal of Chhattisgarh Public Service (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act Amendment Ordinance, 2019.
After the ordinance , now the economically weaker section will get 10 percent reservation in the state. Significantly, the state has 32% reservation for Scheduled Tribes, 13% for Scheduled Castes and 27% for Other Backward Classes. To give reservation to the economically weaker section, the Central Government had passed a Bill in Parliament, after which there was a demand for giving reservation to the general class on economic grounds in the state as well.
