Raipur: Chhattisgarh govt. issues reservation in promotion for govt. employees. The Gazette points out that the reservation will be effective on the basis of seniority and suitability for the second category and equivalent posts.
The Scheduled Caste (SC) government employees will get 13 percent and Scheduled Tribe (ST) employees will get 32 percent. The promotion process which is pending since February 2019 will now restart.Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on his Independence Day speech at Raipur had announced the raising of quota for STs, SCs and OBCs. As per the announcement, Other Backward Classes will have 27 percent reservation, SCs will have 13 percent and STs will get 32 percent reservation.
For second to first category posts, third category and equivalent posts and fourth category posts promotion will be based on, qualification cum seniority basis.
It will be also effective for New Delhi based Chhattisgarh Bhawan and Chhattisgarh Sadan offices.
Earlier, OBCs, SCs, and STs were getting 14 percent, 12 percent and 32 percent quota respectively, in educational institutions and government jobs. The state government had also notified the Centre’s decision to implement 10 percent reservation for economically backward sections of the general category. Altogether, reservation in the state rose to 82 percent, the highest in the country. Baghel had claimed the reservation was given on the basis of the existing population ration of the state.
The reservation policy of the state has been challenged in the Chhattisgarh High Court, especially the hike OBC reservation quota.
